My last post

Yesterday was my last day of high school without counting the upcoming left over exams. Its weird to think that its already over but I guess time fly's pretty quickly when your busy. I'm going to miss all of friends that I've made over the years but I'm pretty confided that I'll continue to see my real or close friends no matter how busy we become in Cegep.

The last couple of months of writing blogs were not as bad as I thought they would be because blogging gave me a way to express my opinion on controversial topics.  I may have offended some people if so I'm sorry but suck it up! But lately I've been having trouble coming up with new things to write about which is why I will not be continuing to write new posts.

But as my last post I would like to thank everybody who has helped me throughout high school. So thank you to my teachers, my friends, my family and my girlfriend. I definitely could not have done it without you! I would Even like to thank my journalism teacher for putting up with all of my complaining over the past year, but it was fun.

I also want to thank anybody who has taken the time to read my posts, you do NOT suck! I look forward to moving more into the real world and discovering new things and new people but I still have some reluctance in leaving what I already know very well. Its scary how quickly time fly's, I remember being in primary school and thinking that I would live forever but now I realize that that isn't going to happen unless there's a scientific discovery but other then that we will all die. so we should treat everyday like our last!

Goodbye everyone!

Technology in schools

Cellphones in school can be very good but at the same time they probably have a worse outcome.

I'll start with the good. The new smart phones which don't seem to new to us anymore are capable of searching info on internet. Taking pictures, wireless connection to computers and contacting peers and family members. So they could come in handy when a student wants the definition of a word he/she can just use their phone. Instead of taking notes the student can just take a picture or even record the teacher's voice which would allow the student to pay more attention to the lesson. It would also helpful there is a family problem and the student needs to be contacted.

But over all cellphones are more of a problem.

Students can cheat on tests by texting the answers or even taking pictures of the test and passing them on to friends, they can distract students during class and can also effect a student's communication skills in a negative manner. Also, instead of a family member calling the student directly they can call the school's main office which would save the student the time of trying to give his/her teacher a reason to leave class. Another problem with these little electronic devices happens when there is an emergency at school. Like when Dawson College in Montreal Quebec had a school shooting a couple years ago the police were confused by all the information they were getting about the shooter from the mass phone calls from students and family members.

One can not defend one's self

Darnell Young, 17, brought a stun gun to school to ward off bullies and was expelled after he says he brandished the weapon last month while he was being confronted by classmates.

"I raised it up, and then I pushed the button twice," Darnell Young, 17, a student at Arsenal Tech High School in Indianapolis told Fox59.com. He told the station he thought he was about to be jumped.

"I would never apologize for defending my child when the school wouldn't."
- Chelisa Grimes, Young's mother

Young says he's been bullied for a while at the school. He says he's been called gay slurs and has been the target of thrown bottles and rocks. The bullying has gotten so bad, Young says he considered killing himself.
Young's mother, Chelisa Grimes, told the station that she armed her son with a stun gun after complaining to school administrators several times about the bullying.
"I would never apologize for defending my child when the school wouldn't. My child has the right to go to school and feel safe," Grimes told the station.

Young will be able to return to school on Jan. 7, 2013.

If you were in this 17 year olds place and have already contemplated suicide what would you do? Well, this student couldn't take it any longer so his mom bought him a tazer to protect himself. You can't blame somebody who has to get a weapon to protect himself or to at least make him feel safer. The school has a responsibility to guaranty the safety of all of their students failing to do so should be punishable. Its not like the school had no idea what was happening considering Young and his parents complained to the school on multiple occasions.

This also raises the question of how good of a society are we when people are made fun of for the way they are to the point of considering taking their own life!
That should not be acceptable.

Should Canada bring back the death penalty for convicted murderers?

I think that they should for sure bring capital punishment back, if somebody is capable of killing another human being then they deserve to have their life taken. What is the good in locking them up in prison for the rest of their lives so they can live off of tax payer's money and contribute nothing to society. We already have enough people living on this little planet of ours that we don't need people that do not respect life and other people. Capital punishment was originally removed because of the amount of people that were killed but were falsely accused. Now a days we can test DNA and we have all sorts of new technology to find criminals, so it is less likely that somebody will be falsely accused.

According to Justin Piche, an assistant professor of sociology at Memorial University in St. John’s, N.L., who analyzes the costs of Canada’s prisons. The cost of the federal prison system has risen 86% since the Harper government took over in 2006, government reports show. When the Conservatives came to power in 2005-06, Canada’s federal corrections system cost nearly $1.6-billion per year, but the projected cost for 2011-12 has increased to $2.98-billion per year. “That is a humungous increase of over 80%,” said Justin Piche. “Canadians are going to be spending a lot more on their prisons, and this is just the beginning.” By 2013-14, the cost of the federal penitentiary system will have almost doubled to $3.147-billion, according to budget projections. Recent government reports on the cost of Canada’s jails show costs rising on all fronts. For instance, the cost of keeping a male inmate in prison rose from $88,067 per year in 2006 to $109,699 in 2009, according to the most recent data from Corrections and Conditional Release Statistical Overview. The cost of staffing Canada’s federal prisons has also increased significantly, with 5,745 more staff hired at Corrections Canada since the Conservatives took power. Staffing numbers have risen from 14,663 in 2005-06 to 20,408 full-time equivalents in 2011-12, according to Reports on Plans and Priorities. The government’s plan to construct new prison and expand existing ones is also a reason for rising costs. In 2010-11 alone, more than $517-million will be spent on prison construction. The Correctional Service of Canada also attributes the rising cost partially to the government’s Truth in Sentencing Act, which eliminated the two-for-one credit for time served prior to conviction, and the Tackling Violent Crime Act which toughens sentences for certain violent crimes. The department expects the prison population to grow by 4,500 inmates — up from a current population of 22,749 — by 2014.

So why not make it easier on everybody and make it easier for us to sleep at night and get rid of these sick people? I am not saying kill the people that have stolen a TV, those people might learn from what they did but somebody who has taken a life I don't believe deserves a second chance!

Baptism beats the gayness out of young boys!

A North Carolina senior pastor of Berean Baptist Church in Fayetteville preached that parents should hit children that show signs of being gay, he says he was just joking and that the members of his congregation understood his intent.

"Everyone in the congregation on that morning understood that there was no intent in any way, shape or form that I meant to break a wrist," Sean Harris told CNN.
He made this "joke" as he calls it during a sermon, that was dedicated to North Carolina's "marriage amendment" being put to a state poll. If it passes, it would specify the marriage of a man and woman will be the only legally recognized domestic union in the state.
This is a part of the sermon.
"So your little son starts to act a little girlish when he is four years old and instead of squashing that like a cockroach and saying, 'Man up, son, get that dress off you and get outside and dig a ditch, because that is what boys do,' you get out the camera and you start taking pictures of Johnny acting like a female and then you upload it to YouTube and everybody laughs about it and the next thing you know, this dude, this kid is acting out childhood fantasies that should have been squashed," Harris preached.
"Can I make it any clearer?" he yelled. "Dads, the second you see that son dropping the limp wrist, you walk over there and crack that wrist. Man up. Give them a good punch."
He even takes aim at girls too, warning parents to "rein in" daughters who are "acting too butch."
Right before the end of his 55 minute sermon, Harris said he isn't against same-sex couples living together even if according to him it's a "sick and ungodly way." He then made it clear he was not spreading anti-gay hate.
In todays society, this seems like something that should not exist! After all, parents aren't even aloud to physically correct their children and are meant to deal with it in more of a civilized manner. We are also not meant to treat homosexuality as a sickness or a choice. It is something that you are born with not something that can be gotten rid of by a good smack!
Why can't people just let people be who they are? Homosexuals have had to put up with a lot and have fought for there right to live as couples without being ridiculed. I would say especially homosexual students get bullied because of the way the are. Two of the largest things that us as a society have been trying to fight is racism or prejudice and bullying. So why keep fighting homosexuality? Religion is meant to give hope for after death and a way for people to follow rules to stay civilized. But they can't expect people to change their sexual orientation for religion or because you hit them.
What would be the problem with a gay couple being legally married anyway? People have to get over themselves and stop trying to make peoples lives difficult, lots of homosexuals already have enough problems from society so why make it worse for them?
After Harris' sermon got out in public and he received lots of flack from the media and the public he proceeded to comment on this.
"I have learned from this and will seek to be more articulate and deliberate with my words in the future," Harris wrote, adding that his apology is not to be confused with a retraction of his other remarks.
"I do not apologize for the manner in which the Word of God articulates sexual immorality, including homosexuality and effeminacy, as a behaviour that is an abomination to God."

Religion not aloud at a Nova Scotia school!

A Grade 12 student in Nova Scotia has been suspended for wearing a T-shirt that expresses his religious beliefs. The South Shore Regional School Board suspended William Swinimer from Forest Heights Community School in Chester Basin for five days for wearing a shirt with "Life is wasted without Jesus" written on it!
School board Supt. Nancy Pynch-Worthylake says the wording on the shirt is the problem because it is aimed at the beliefs of others. She also says the school has spoken with Swinimer a couple of times about the shirt, asking him not to wear it again. She says the school tried mediation before suspending him.
Well there seems to be a problem! I thought we lived in a country that publicizes that we support freedom of choice, speech and religion. So what's the problem with a T-shirt that says "Life is wasted without Jesus"? At the school I attend we have students that wear shirts that promote sex, alcohol and drugs. But they never get suspended or so much as a warning. This shirt is far from being aimed at the beliefs of others because its a T-shirt nobody would be offended by this shirt and if so they are overly sensitive and need to get a LIFE!
If a muslim student went to school saying "Life is wasted without Muhammad" the school most likely say anything because they would be scared of being called racist, so what's wrong with promoting our countries main religion?
The whole problem with people today is that they make a big deal of racism which basically causes these situation. For example, if people could just be happy with who they are then they wouldn't have a problem with what other people think and racism and prejudism would cease to exist. But of course this will never happen because people always want to be what they aren't and are never happy with what they have.

Why is it that each generation keeps getting dumber and dumber?

My school is divided into two different campuses, called the junior and the senior. The junior is grades 7 and 8 while the senior is 9 to 11.  So last friday on 4/20 a student at the junior was getting help from a guidance counselor to clean his locker( the counselor helps students stay organized). When suddenly the counselor finds some weed in his locker. So already you can see why I think these kids aren't very smart, because he already knows that the counselor can say at any given time lets go clean your locker.  What makes this even dumber is that the kid then says "Well I'm not the only one with that stuff", like thats going to help his case.  So teachers started searching lockers and when they realized that they were finding quit a bit of drugs they called the police.  Then the police came in with drug sniffing dogs and searched all of the lockers. Around 12 students were caught with drugs in their possession and one kid even tried to say that the white powdery substance that was found in his locker was his sisters makeup!  And then after all of this a girl in grade 8 decided she would get drunk in class today.  Now if this doesn't sound dumb to you then your pretty dumb yourself.

But honestly what is up with these  kids its as if they have all gone back in time when people weren't civilized. Kids in grade 9 tell teachers to F off and they don't respect anybody besides them self, well actually they don't really respect them selves with the amount of drugs they do.  I've even heard that girls at the junior school bring boys into the back to give them blow jobs!  Like WTF we never did that when I was that age, they're 12 to 14 years old for god's sake!  There is obviously something going wrong with these kids and I think it's the parent's fault.  Parents are to easy on their children and instead of proper parenting there more worried about trying to be the cool mom or dad.  These parents are going to have to realize that there not going to be very cool when their daughter comes home nocked up or their son has an addiction to heroin!  But that's only my opinion.

Is what we hear from the media true?

Even though we would like to believe so, the media does not always tell the truth. Well, technically they tell the truth or else they would have a whole bunch of lawsuits against them but what they do is give you part of the story and let you assume the rest. This usually makes the story a lot worse then it is because people hear what they want to hear and this lets people's imagination go crazy. Just last week there was a fight between two high school students at the school I attend. During this fight, one student threw an unlucky punch that resulted in breaking the other students cheek bone in two spots and his eye socket. The student that threw the punch is now expelled from the school and is being charged with assault. Unfortunately the same student already has a record and will most likely be tried as an adult because he is 17. He has basically ruined the rest of his life or the beginning at least. But the worse part of this is that it was all over $20 of weed that the kid with the now broken face stole from the other.

Now that you know what really happened I'll tell you what the media is saying. The compared the fight to David and Goliath fighting which is an exaggeration considering the one that lost was the same weight as the other but 4 inches shorter. The media also called the fight a surprise attack on the student that was injured which is far from true because both students planed the fight before hand and both showed up to the fight ready to fight. But what the media is really stuck on is the fact that nearly 50 students stud by watching without doing anything and video taped in on their phones. This as we found out was a big mistake but it was a reasonable action based on what we were told. We were told that the kid that lost the fight punched a girl in the face over the weekend so we were even hoping that he would get his ass kicked but nobody thought of the possible out comes. People now a days don't think of what a well placed punch can do because we always see fights on tv were both fighter walk away with maybe a black eye or a bloody nose but usually nothing worse. So when everyone herd the loud smack as the punch made contact there was a shout of surprise from all the onlookers as they realized that something went wrong. At this time it was to late to stop the fight but it does not make all of the students desensitized monster like the media is portraying them. Everyone makes mistakes so the students just have to learn from them and the media has to keep to the true story instead of publishing what people want to hear.

Quebec students full of ignorance!

The $1,625 tuition increase over the next five years, in Quebec, got the students out on the streets protesting. This is now the longest student protest in all of Quebec history and not the most peaceful protest either. There has been numerous arrests and injuries and riot control is all over Montreal and Quebec City. Not only are the protesters annoying the government they are also pissing of normal people trying to get places. This is really bad in Montreal where already half the roads are closed for construction and now even more are closed because of these protests. This shows that these students are very inconsiderate of other people, they even go and disrupt classes which have students that are fine with the tuition increase.

Professor contracts require that the semester ends June 15th which is leading to some Universities to say that the students that don't go back to school for the deadline will be jeopardising their semester. The Université de Montréal, Quebec’s largest university, announced Wednesday that it will extend the term into May for students who have already returned to class. At the same time, it said it can no longer guarantee students who haven’t returned that they will be able to finish their semesters. Groups representing around 25 per cent of Université de Montréal are still on strike. At the province’s second largest university, Québec à Montréal (UQAM), groups representing around half the student population are still on strike. There, the board of directors has made a plan that allows students to return as late as April 16 with the semester ending June 3.

Neither of Quebec’s large English-language universities, Concordia and McGill, plan to extend their semesters. Some of the largest student groups at those schools voted against the strikes. CEGEP courses must by law be 82 days long. Some CEGEPs have cancelled some or all summer classes to accommodate an extended term. One of them, College de Valleyfield, has told students that they must return to classes on April 12. This shows that the majority of protesting students are francophone and not english.
What doesn't make sense to me is that 200,000 students are still protesting compared to the original 300,000 because they think that there should be no tuition increase. But while they are protesting they are skipping school that they are paying for, if they fail the semester they will have to pay to redo it and who knows they might not even be accepted into the school to redo the semester. Besides Quebec has the lowest tuition fees in all of Canada at around $2,600 while Ontario students pay $7,600 and something. This is a huge difference and why not pay the extra $1,625 to have better schooling? Or instead of having a sell phone that costs $100 a month, get rid of it and then you wouldn't have a problem. Students have to learn to make sacrifices and that you have to work for the things you want and that mommy and daddy wont always be there to treat you as their prince or princess.

Giving teachers the right to physically fix a student's attitude in class, would be a great way to keep a class under control.

Everybody has had a kid in their class when they were in school, that would disrupt the class' learning and the teacher's teaching. Usually these kids get kicked out of class and maybe end up being sent to the principal's office. But after a few times of paying the principal a visit the student doesn't seem to mind going to the principal's office because they realize that the principal can't do very much( thats what happens when there is no real punishment.

Some ideas to solve this problem would be giving teacher the right to smack students, separate students into different learning levels or just kick the disruptive students out of school. If teachers could beat the crap out of students like they used to be able to students would be more likely to listen in class because they would know that there are repercussions to their actions. Instead of now a days were all the students know that a teacher can't touch them.

If we put different learning levels in school students would be able to learn with students that are of their learning caliber( so the idiots with the idiots and the smart kids with the smart kids). That way the disruptive or uninterested  students would be together, the average students would be together and the advanced students would be together. And that way the dumb kids will be able to feel a bit smart compared to when they felt like complete idiots when they were with the smart kids. The only students that might not like this would be the dumb of the dumb kids because then they will just be considered unfit for school and they might as well start applying at a Mcdonalds'. Some might say that this wouldn't work because if your in the lowest level then your looked down on and don't have a chance to do something with your life. Which is find of true unless you show improvement and go up to the next level.

Kicking these disruptive students out off school for good is also a good idea it may not be as fun as smacking a kid but this way you get rid of the problem permanently. This solution might not turn out well because we would have a whole bunch of kids hanging around the streets with nothing to do but cause trouble, so maybe that isn't such a good idea.

Personally I would prefer to give teachers the right to beat the smug face off of those students that think they have the right to disrupt other kids' education just because they plan on working for minimum wage for the rest of their lives or that they don't plan on working at all and living off of everybody else.  They have to  realize that they are far from God's gift to the world because I would hope that god would send a hell of a better gift.

Is discrimination acceptable?

Discrimination is acceptable when its intended to protect yourself and others and because of personal choice and opinion( or if your making a joke). It's not acceptable to discriminate against  somebody because of their race, gender, sexual orientation or their physical body traits these things can be changed but most people don't have enough money to change their appearance and this would make the plastic surgery industry very rich considering all the ugly people on the planet.

Discrimination is also used a lot since 9/11 in airports. It is most commonly used against Muslim travelers because the terrorists that were behind 9/11 were Muslims and the airport doesn't want to take risks with their customer's lives( not that they really care about their customers, they just care about their money but it sounds nicer if you say they care about their customer's lives). Besides imagine the amount of flack they would take if another plane jacking happened because they didn't take precautions.

As far as discriminating for your personal choice goes it could be as simple as finding somebody to live with who listens to the same music as you, believes in the same religion, has the same interest, same sex interests, different sex interests or doesn't smoke( or does smoke which ever you prefer), whatever floats your boat. All of these things would do no harm to discriminate against if anything it would have a better out come because you would be living with somebody who you would get along with. Or when your looking for love interests it is okay if you decide you don't want to be with somebody because they have children because who the hell wants children especially if there not even yours that's someone else's mistake .

Having an opinion that people may consider as discriminating is also acceptable in someways like a woman wanting a woman doctor because she would feel more comfortable or a guy wanting a hot woman doctor so he wouldn't mind going to see the doctor. Or if your a business owner and your hiring and you decide you want to hirer a woman and not a man you should be aloud without anybody complaining because let's say your looking for a secretary your going to want a woman( preferably attractive) if your a guy. But many discriminatory opinions are not acceptable such as hiring somebody that's white that has no qualifications rather that a black person who has the qualifications just because you would rather have a white employ.Or not hiring a muslim because your scared that he might blow up your office.

As my first post I would like to let you all know that I HATE BLOGS! The onlly reason I have made one is because my grade 11 journalism class has to make one as a project. My teacher wants us to make a new post every week, as if we have nothing else better to do. Like is this real school or what? What kind of project is this? I thought that blogs were for people to express their opinions on what ever they like and then uneducated people read them( No offense to you all. Well actually you guys have no life if you read blogs). Most of you bloggers wright about things you believe in or you talk about your families and put up pictures of your ugly children. But who the hell cares about your family!  Do you guys really not have anything else to do, like oh I don`t get an education. Or maybe you guys are getting an education like me and like me you have a teacher that`s making you wright a crappy blog for no lifes to read. Another stupid thing about this project is that my teachers gave us a minimum of 300 words per post. Like honestly, how long does she think I can bitch about how stupid blogs are. Now she wants me to put this in paragraphs! To hell with that.

I`ll right a new blog next week, so fallow me if you want to keep hearing me bitch about anything and almost everything.

P.S. You guys have nothing better to do.
